Written By David Pullin. (c) 1989 Pullin Software
-------------------------------------------------
When you have loaded Home Accounts type 01/01/1989 for the
date. Please remember to enter the date and time in the correct
format for the computer needs these to run successfully. Enter
the present time and press return to see the main menu.
First we need to load some data. Press G ( Disk Management )
and return. Press 2 ( load ) and with the mouse choose DEMO1.VAR
from the file selector. When it has loaded the computer will ask
you for a code. Only the people with the correct code will then
be able to look at that data.
Type 'demo' and return for the code. The computer will not
display the code when you are entering it. You will then have to
wait until the data is de-coded.
Home Accounts will then update all possible regular
income/outcome transactions that could have taken place between
now and the last time it was turned on. For this example it will
display -
29/12/1988 Weekly Magazine 0.7
This means that the reqular outcome of a weekly magazine
happened on the 29th of December 1988. The cost was 0 pounds and
70 pence. the nought is not shown at the end of a number if it
includes a decimal point.
The computer ask for conformation that the transaction did
take place - this is useful for when things may not go to plan or
you may wish to leave on week out. Press Y and wait until the
main menu appears.
--------------------------
Now. Try to access a statement by pressing A followed by
return. Press 2 for statement 2. You will find you have no
permitted access into that section and returned to the main menu.
This is because this section has been locked by a password. To
tell the computer you know the password press E ( New code )
followed by return. Type in 'view' and return. Again the password
is not displayed on the screen.
Try again to access statement 2 ( By pressing A, Return and
then 2.) Now this time you have access.
Have a look at the last entry. This was added when we
pressed Y for the regular outcome conformation after loading.
Next time you load this demo press N for No and see what happens.
To edit the statement press HELP for a list of key to press and
how they work.
Move the bar under the last entry and press SPACE. For the
New Date : Enter a *. This will insert the present date
- 01/01/1989 - or you can type what you wish. It does not need to
be in date format. eg. 25th May. For the New Description : Enter
' Blank Video Cassettes ( 3 )'. Then enter 10 in the debit prompt.
The statement will then be updated and give you a remaining total
of £6.44.
-------------------------
Return to the main menu and access B] Standing orders. Press
2 for regular outcome. Line 1 will read.
1 Weekly magazine 0.7 D7- 2 4
This means that regular outcome index 1 titled 'Weekly
magazine' cost 70p every 7 days. Make changes to statement 2. The
next entry is due in another 4 days.
Regular income/outcome will also do monthly and bimonthly
items. Type 2 and return. Follow the prompts to add in a new
item. When you have finished experimenting return to the main
menu.
-------------------------
Try to access statement 1 - You can't it needs a different
code. On the main menu access E - for a new code and type
'midland'. Now try to access statement one. This is a useful way
of doing things because you can block off certain parts of the
program to non permitted persons.
Type in a new new code 'allocations' and choose F on the
main menu. This displays all the codes for the different
sections. Enter * for a list of what the numbers 1-9 represent.
The last code ( number 9 ) is the code used when saving
your data. It is needed again when loading - forgetting this code
will leave you data that you cannot retrieve.
-------------------------
Test : Change the save code to 'demo2' and add to the
standing orders a regular monthly income of £300.50
will will be updated on the 20th of each month.
Then save this ammended data as 'DEMO2.VAR.'
Note : When entering in numbers or money do not type the
pound or pence signs.
